Case Studies

Reducing Energy Usage

Trends in CO2 equivalent emissions (plants)

SAKATA INX works actively to identify energy usage at all of our Japanese facilities to reduce our consumption level.  With the implementation of environmental management system in 2001, energy usage has decreased.  We have continued to work to reduce energy use by promoting production streamlining, introducing innovations and improvements at each division to save energy, and changing boiler fuel to municipal gas.  Carbon Dioxide equivalent intensity in 2019 increased due to decrease in production volume and change in the configuration of production items.
SAKATA INX does not use fluorocarbons, which is said to be the cause of global warming, either as raw materials or in the manufacturing process.

Reducing Waste

Waste emissions and recycling rates

In addition to limiting the volume of waste emissions produced through our business activities as much as possible, we have promoted reuse and recycling and worked to reduce the amount of materials that are disposed (non-recyclable waste).
2019 figures decreased by 9.3%.  Tokyo, Osaka, Shiga and Hanyu plants recycling rate was more than 99.5% (zero emission).  We will continue to propel separation of waste in order to accomplish zero emission.

Preventing Water Pollution

We work to prevent water pollution by treating washing wastewater, etc. from our plants using waste water treatment facilities before emitting it from the plants. We also carry out regular water inspections in accordance with the ordinances and agreements set out by local government agencies, and monitor the quality of our waste water.

Reducing Emissions of Atmospheric Pollutants

Trends in NOx and SOx emissions

By changing our boiler fuel to municipal gas, we have reduced the amount of NOx and SOx that we emit.  We continue to use steam effectively and reduce heat loss.  We also work to reduce the amount of fuel (pollutants emitted into the atmosphere) used.

Reducing Energy Usage

Trends in CO2 equivalent emissions (plants)

SAKATA INX propels the acquisition of ISO14001 certification at production facilities in our overseas affiliated companies.  Certification has been acquired at 17 locations: Thailand, India, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, U.K., U.S., Spain and Indonesia.  SAKATA INX Group believes that the promotion of environmental activities is one of our most important management challenges.  We seek to promote efficient use of energy, and work together to contribute to society and local communities.

Reducing Waste

Waste emissions (plants)

We promote acquisition of ISO14001 certification at our overseas production sites, and we put efforts into properly managing waste treatment, etc.  2019 figures decreased due to drop in production volume, etc.
