We held courses on the use of AED (automated external defibrillators) at the Osaka Head Office and Tokyo Head Office. Participants in the courses learned what to pay attention to when they first discover a casualty (person who has collapsed), what they should do before the AED arrives, how to use an AED, and how to perform cardiac massage (chest compressions) using a training AED and dummy. Given that it takes more physical strength than expected to perform continuous cardiac massage, the participants learned that several people should take turns to perform cardiac massage, and that helping each other as well as learning the procedures and actions is also important when it comes to saving lives.
