SAKATA INX truly values its human resources and building a workplace where our employees can work in a safe and secured environment is one of our most important challenges. The Health & Safety Committee was established under the supervision of the Sustainability Committee with the aim of preventing workplace accidents, maintaining and promoting the health of our employees. It works to improve the workplace environment based on the opinions of each workplace.
SAKATA INX has obtained certification for the international standard “ISO 45001” and the domestic standard “JIS Q 45100” at our four domestic plants (Tokyo, Osaka, Shiga and Hanyu). This initiative aims to enhance awareness and knowledge of occupational health and safety as well as to further improve daily safety and health activities.
This transition from the previously implemented “JISHA-certified OSHMS” to a more systematic and internationally recognized certification system has strengthened our occupational safety and health management framework.
Management Structure
The Sustainability Committee, which is chaired by the Representative Director, President & CEO and consists of all of our directors, determines policies, targets, and plans regarding ESG activities, including occupational health and safety activities, and it approves the action policies, targets, and plans of its subordinate committees. The Company-wide Health and Safety Committee, which is chaired by the Executive Officer in charge of the Human Capital & General Affairs Div., is subordinate to the Sustainability Committee. To promote company-wide health and safety activities, the committee sets targets for these activities, works to achieve them, consolidates information about the activities of committees and meeting bodies in each workplace, considers matters of concern in each workplace, and considers other related matters. Reports on the decisions and results of the deliberations of the Company-wide Health and Safety Committee are submitted to the Sustainability Committee every six months (twice a year).
Risk management
We conduct regular risk assessments of existing equipment and operations and seek to eliminate and reduce physiological and psychological issues attributable to dangerous labor practices, handling of dangerous equipment, instruments and hazardous substances. When we newly introduce, expand, or revamp machines or equipment, we conduct two risk assessments, in the budget creation phase and before we begin to operate the equipment, to confirm that there are no health or safety issues, including issues related to worker protection, the safety of starting and stopping the equipment, the work environment, and the prevention of occupational accidents. We also seek to increase the health and safety awareness of employees through health and safety training and internal awareness-raising activities.
Internal audits
We conduct internal audits of the quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems at our four major plants in Japan.
| Auditors | Internal auditors who have completed training in quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management system audits and have been appointed as management representatives will conduct audits from a position independent to the scope of the audit. |

Initiatives to address climate change and ensure the safety of employees
We implement initiatives to mitigate the negative impact of climate change and protect the health and safety of employees. As part of these initiatives, we provide training to prevent heat stroke at our four major plants in Japan to provide employees with correct knowledge and inform them of preventive behaviors. In these training sessions, they learn about the causes of heatstroke and heat indices as a guide, appropriate ways to rehydrate, the consumption of salt supplements, the need to rest, and what to do when they feel ill. We will continue training and awareness-raising activities to address climate change risks as we work to develop workplace environments that enable employees to work safely.
