Under the corporate philosophy of "Mind within the Mind," we recognize the importance of respecting human rights as a member of society, and we respect the human rights of various stakeholders. Human rights are indispensable for people’s living, pursuing happiness and improvement of quality of human life. We will encourage compliance to this policy and be a company that is fair and trusted from society. We hereby establish the SAKATA INX Group Human Rights Policy as the guideline for efforts to respect human rights in our corporate activities.
SAKATA INX Group supports and respects international norms on human rights including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the Children’s Rights and Business Principles. The SAKATA INX Group Human Rights Policy is guided by the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and we will move forward with initiatives regarding respect for human rights accordingly.
The human rights policy is set forth as the overarching regulation based on the corporate philosophy, Sustainability Basic Policy and Ethical Code of Conduct.
We comply with relevant laws and regulations in each country or region where we operate, respect international standards of conduct and fully respect international human rights principles.
Scope
This policy applies to all officers, corporate advisors, and employees of SAKATA INX Group (including quasi-employees such as non-regular staff, contract employees, part-time employees, temporary dispatch workers and fixed-term employees). We also require all business partners involved with our products and services (our business partners and suppliers) to understand and support this policy.
Respect for Human Rights
We eliminate all forms of discrimination, harassment, human trafficking, child labor, forced labor, etc. We are committed to responsible labor practices including the provision of a safe and healthy environment in the workplace, basic labor rights such as freedom of association, the right to collective bargaining, and the assurance of equal pay for equal work. We also respect the fundamental human rights, individuality and diversity of all stakeholders. As a member of society, we strive to coexist in harmony with local communities.
1. Prohibition of discrimination
We will not tolerate i) discrimination on the basis of race, skin color, thought, belief, religion, nationality, ethnicity, birthplace, gender, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, family structure, social status, or employment status or ii) any act that harms the dignity of an individual. We ensure equal opportunities and fairness in our treatment of our human resources, including in employment, training, promotion, compensation and evaluation.
2. Prohibition of forced or compulsory labor
We prohibit forced labor, labor through coercion, prison labor, labor through human trafficking, labor through debt bondage and similar labor practices and will not use these forms of labor. All labor must be voluntary, and we guarantee workers' freedom of separation from their services and their ability to terminate their employment contracts. In addition, we will not retain, destroy, conceal or confiscate workers' identification, passports, work permits, immigration applications or similar documents or prevent workers' use of them, excluding where such acts are legally required.
3. Prohibition of child labor
We respect children's rights, prohibit the labor and employment of workers under the minimum legal working age in each country and region where we operate, and we will not take advantage of such labor and employment situations. We also ensure that young workers under 18 years of age are not engaged in late-night work, overtime work, or work which could harm their health or impair their safety.
・Children: People who are under the minimum working age designated by law
・Young people: People who have reached the minimum working age and are under 24 yearsof age
4. Prohibition of inhumane treatment
We prohibit the inhumane treatment of people, including mental, physical or sexual abuse, corporal punishment, all forms of bullying and harassment.
5. Wages and benefits
We comply with the laws of the countries and regions in which we operate related to benefits, etc., including minimum wage, overtime compensation, and equal pay for equal work, seek to pay a living wage and offer family benefits required by law.
6. Working hours and holidays
We strive to reduce overtime work and comply with laws and regulations applied in relation to work hours and the taking of breaks, holidays and leave which are stipulated in the laws of the countries and regions in which we operate.
7. Freedom of association and collective bargaining rights
We respect the right to freely form and participate in labor unions and the right to participate in collective bargaining and peaceably assemble. We also develop opportunities and environments which permit workers to talk with the management about labor conditions and management practices without concerns about discrimination, retaliation, threats, harassment, etc.
8. Safety, hygiene and health
We comply with the laws on safety, health, etc. established in the countries and regions in which we operate and strive to build safe, secure and healthy workplace environments.
9. Respect for cultures and customs and social contribution
We respect the cultures and practices of the communities and societies in which we engage in business activities. We also engage in dialogue with communities and societies and engage in social contribution activities, volunteer activities, education, local employment and other initiatives.
Human Rights Due Diligence
We will identify adverse human rights impacts, and seek to prevent or mitigate such impacts through our human rights due diligence framework.
Remediation and Correction
If it is found that we have caused or encouraged something that negatively impacts human rights, we will implement the appropriate procedures to take remedial actions and correct the violation of human rights.
Dialogue and Discussion
We will hold dialogues and discussions with stakeholders on responses to potential and actual impacts on human rights.
Education
We provide appropriate training to all officers, corporate advisors and employees of SAKATA INX Group to ensure that this policy is well understood and effectively implemented.
Report
We will report our efforts on respect for human rights through our corporate website, etc.
